FOOD IN A LUGGAGE

LUGGAGE ROOM

As a Food & Travel Blogger, luggage and food are the two things that are always there with me. While searching for a place, the name of this outlet caught my attention – The Luggage Room. It is set up on the first floor, in the outer circle of Connaught Place. Just outside there is a big Red board displaying their name. When you enter the place you notice dim lights displaying a huge area with sofa seating on one side and chairs on the other.  The idea while designing the interiors was to connect it with the name of the outlet. The wall has keys displayed in a box (Keys to open the luggage. Smart!), the bar table is set up on suitcases and the best part is bringing food in small leather boxes. I really liked the concept. Your food is hot while you’re not eating and it looks so cool. And to take it up a notch, they have hip music playing in the background while you enjoy the food.

Interiors!

  • DRINKS
We started with some Mock tails and Smoothies:

• Sandoz Mock tail – It looked quite irresistible and tasted quite good.

• Blue Icelander – I ordered it because the name sounded cool, but the taste was so disappointing that I don’t want to bore you more and help you skip this drink.

• Fruit Punch – The Fruit Punch had no punch in it, a little thick in texture, fruits mixed and served. That’s all.

Avoidable Mock tails!

  •  FOOD
After the disappointing Mock tails, it was time for some food:

• Mushroom Cigar Rolls –With a starter like this, the expectations went high. Mushrooms and cheese stuffed in a roll sheet and deeply fried. It looked very tempting and was lip smacking.

• Chili Paneer – Cottage Cheese tossed with pepper, onion, tomato and capsicum. The looks were not appealing. The crispness was missing; paneer was soft but didn’t taste good at all. Can be avoided.

• Crispy Mushrooms – Mushrooms covered with a crispy layer, fried and served in a toothpick. The best Starter. Must try when you visit this place.

• Mushroom Chili – As the name suggests, it was very spicy. Prepared with green onion, lettuce and green chili. Another good starter of the lot.

Delicious Starters!

• OTC Pizza – Thin Crust pizza prepared with onion, tomato, capsicum, cream & cheese. The pizza was just average in taste. With less toppings and no different flavor, it had no difference when you compare it with the usual pizzas.

• SZ Special Mix Veg Pizza – Another Thin Crust Pizza but much better than the former one. It was overloaded with double cheese, onion, olives, pepper, baby corn, broccoli, tomato and mushrooms. It gives you a variety of flavors to your taste buds and you feel satisfied.

Different Pizzas!

• Kadhai Paneer – The freshness of the paneer could be felt when you have your first bite. Prepared with onion, capsicum, paneer and dressed with cream on the top. The dish was a treat in itself, so delicious that you might overeat in the process. Must try!

• Special Dal Makhani – The specialty of the Dal Makhani was that it didn’t taste like the usual Dal that is served at other food joints. This one was prepared with the homemade spices, which they make on their own, and the rawness can be felt in the texture. Their experiment worked well for me and I liked it.

• It was time to end the Dinner with a dessert – Kulfi –The Kulfi was freshly prepared and was so soft that it melted while I was trying to finish it. It tasted good and can be tried.

Lip smacking Main Course!

  • SERVICE
Coming to the Service, they were trying to bring our order on time. The staff was prompt and the owner was quite involved making sure everything is on time and he was also telling us what makes their dishes different from others. +1 point for the owner.

  • OVERALL
If you can manage to skip the mock tails then this place can be in your “Places to eat in CP”. With good music selection, amazing starters and Remade Main Course, this is one of the good outlets worth a visit.
